Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major public health problem with high risk of developing heart failure. Left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction is often present in patients with significant CAD, even preceding regional or global LV systolic dysfunction, which therefore might serve as an early and sensitive marker of ischemia [1,2].
